As we edge closer and closer towards the festive season, everybody’s schedules are beginning to fill up pretty fast. If you are finding yourself at a loss and need somewhere to pass the time over the next week, Leeds has a wide variety of events on over the coming week that will help keep you busy and your diaries jam packed.

Whether you’re after something for the family, a little bit of live music or somewhere to go for a few drinks with friends, there is an event suitable for everyone.  

Feel you’re in desperate need of some good quality family time? Leeds light switch on takes place on the 7th November and is the perfect place to keep your little ones entertained. This year’s Leeds Christmas Lights switch on will be one of the biggest yet, where Leeds United will kick off the festivities on stage, in honour of the club marking its centenary.  As well as this, former X Factor winners Rak-Su are also expected to entertain crowd. Furthermore, other attractions on the night also include fun fair rides along Cookridge Street, street food concessions and displays of festive illuminations and fireworks.

Now that Halloween is officially over, it is more than acceptable to start talking about Christmas! what better way to kick off the festive period than the opening of the Leeds German Market. Officially opening on the 8th November, the Christkindelmarkt is an annual traditional market that takes place in Leeds, which brings a little piece of Germany to the heart of the city centre. The German market features a variety of authentic wooden chalet stalls, cosy indoor retreats and a traditional carousel, all with the aim of turning Millennium Square into a scenic winter village.

Also taking place this week is the Leeds International Film Festival, taking place from the 6th November. The Leeds International Film Festival is held at a wide variety of venues in and around Leeds, featuring five programme sections: Official Selection, Retrospective, Cinema Versa, Fanomenon and Short Film City, making it the perfect choice if you’re in need of some entertainment this November.

Feeling the need for some live music this November? then why not head on down to the Corn Exchange Sessions, Taking place on the 9th November throughout the day and featuring a variety of live performances from a selection of musicians it is not one to be missed .

Another for the music lovers, hitting the Headrow House on the 15th November is the Deptford Northern Soul Club, a new breed soul night for the next generation of party goers. With the sole aim to bring Northern Soul back into the conversation of modern dance music; expect hard hitting dance moves, good music and a hangover you’ll want to forget.
